What are skin tags?

Skin tags are small popular lesions that hang off the skin which asre made of loosely arranged collagen fibres and capillaries surrounded by thickened skin.

They appear in skin folds and friction areas such as the neck, armpits and groin.

Skin tags can vary ins size from 1-5mm and can be skin colored or darker.

They are also known as acrochordons or soft fibromas

Skin tags can occur due to 

Skin irritation


High levels of growth factors

Insulin resistance

  • Herpes Simplex

  • Hemorrhagic disorders

  • Open wounds or lesions (in treatment area)

  • Medications

  • Pacemakers or defibrillators

  • Cancer

  • Diabetes

  • Anticoagulants

  • Poor healing disorders

  • UV exposure in the last 2-4 weeks

  • Cosmetic injectables (2 weeks)

  • Prescription exfoliants

  • Mucous membrane
